HOW WSF CAME TO BE
During a family cross-country vacation, our President (Chris Dyson) was searching for sporting facilities to visit. Chris and his son were specifically looking for their favourite sports (hockey and stock car racing) events and facilities. Without knowing the names of local events or venues, and in unfamiliar territory, they weren't able to find what they were looking for, except for the major league locations, which wasn't their area of interest.
Some weeks later Chris was discussing his trip and explaining to his good friend, who happened to be involved in the professional world of stock car racing, how he had been unable to locate any of the events they had wanted to find. His friend agreed and explained that he had also experienced the same problems.
Chris was sure a website that allowed everyone to search for specific sports related 'things', would work. During the course of the evening conversation, the subject of Ebay also came up, and how inexpensive it was to list something on that site, yet they had millions of listings at any given time.
Immediately, Chris put the 2 concepts together! An easy to use website where anyone could easily locate any sporting event, where those wanting to advertise themselves could do so at a cost that was so minimal that it would be downright silly to walk away from, without taking advantage of the service.
They knew the heart of such a site would be the programming and that it would be very costly to get it running, but once operational, it would easily become one of the most visited sports registry sites on the web.
Welcome to the result of those early thoughts……worldsportfinder.com.
Please enjoy your visit here and put the time we'll save you, to good use enjoying your friends, family and the sports you love. |
